Volunteers Make a Difference in the Lives of Children and Families
Volunteers are the life-blood of Family Promise of Longview. As a volunteer, you join a network of caring, supportive individuals working together to decrease homelessness in our community.
We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities—from helping in the office to assisting at an event or helping with maintenance. Whatever your gifts and abilities, you can use them to help change the lives of children and families.
Here are just a few of the ways you can volunteer:
Help at the Day Center
Volunteers are frequently needed to help with office work such as answering phones or sending out mailings.
Volunteers also help children with homework, read to children, and play games.
Routine or occasional maintenance needs require help from volunteers. Special project days or events provide wonderful opportunities for families or co-workers to volunteer together.
Volunteer with a Host Congregation
Host congregations provide evening meals and overnight housing for families and children in our program. Volunteers are needed to drive the van, cook and serve meals, set up and take down beds, and launder linens.
Helping a host congregation is a great opportunity for your entire family to volunteer together.
Please encourage your church to become a host congregation. If your church is not participating, volunteer with a participating church.

Volunteer to Help with Motel Weeks
When a congregation is not available to host children and families in our program, we provide them with motel accommodations.
Volunteers are needed to drive the van and to cook or purchase meals and bring them to the Day Center at 4:30 pm for these weeks. Volunteers will be provided with the exact number of families, children's ages, and any dietary restrictions.
